Empowering Mountainous Farmers Through Market Insights in Son La, Vietnam

FocusGroupGo Asia Pacific successfully delivered a Gendered Market Sector Analysis of the Son La fruit industry for DFAT and Cowater International under the Aus4Equality|GREAT Program. Our research focused on key fruit value chains—including longan, mango, Hmong apple, and plum—to identify market opportunities and challenges for mountainous farmers, particularly ethnic minority women, in Son La province, Vietnam. By conducting in-depth value chain assessments and stakeholder engagement, we provided data-driven recommendations to enhance economic empowerment, improve market access, and drive investment. This project highlights our expertise in agribusiness strategy, gender-inclusive development, and market analysis, reinforcing our commitment to sustainable growth in the Asia-Pacific region.

Provision of Research Services to Supply Chain Best Practice to Improve The Health and Welfare of Free-range Buffalo Harvest in Arnhem Land – Northern Territory

FocusGroupGo Asia Pacific is supporting research to improve animal welfare and economic sustainability in the buffalo supply chain through our ongoing collaboration with The University of Queensland and the Northern Territory Government. This research-driven initiative addresses critical challenges in the free-range buffalo industry, focusing on reducing mortality rates, improving health and welfare standards, and ensuring compliance with the Australian Standards for Export of Livestock (ASEL 3.0). Our work also integrates Indigenous community aspirations, exploring economically viable buffalo harvesting solutions that align with cultural, environmental, and economic goals. By leveraging our expertise in agribusiness strategy, policy development, and stakeholder engagement, we are shaping evidence-based recommendations that drive industry best practices, regulatory improvements, and long-term sustainability in the Northern Territory’s buffalo sector.

Delivery and Evaluation of Agribusiness Masterclass in Indonesia, Fiji and Vietnam

FocusGroupGo Asia Pacific successfully delivered the Agribusiness Masterclass (AMC) across Indonesia, Fiji, and Vietnam from 2023-present, equipping potential researchers from leading institutions with practical skills in market systems, value chains, and agribusiness research. Conducted in partnership with ACIAR, this highly interactive program combined hands-on workshops, field-based learning, and real-world case studies to enhance participants’ ability to apply agribusiness concepts effectively. With overwhelmingly positive feedback, the Masterclass significantly improved participants’ knowledge, confidence, and research capacity, proving itself as a cost-effective, high-impact training model. Through our expertise in capacity building and customized program delivery, we continue to empower researchers, institutions, and agribusiness professionals to drive sustainable market and value chain development across the Asia-Pacific region.

Rapid Transform of Lao Beef Sector – Biosecurity, Trade, and Smallholders

FocusGroupGo Asia Pacific is actively contributing to the transformation of Laos’ beef industry through its collaboration with ACIAR. Our work focuses on enhancing smallholder participation in formal beef value chains, improving biosecurity, trade opportunities, and livestock management. Through stakeholder engagement, research analysis, and policy recommendations, we are helping to identify sustainable solutions that align with market demands, government priorities, and economic opportunities. By bridging the gap between smallholder farmers and commercial markets, our efforts are driving industry growth, trade development, and improved livelihoods for communities across Laos.

Bilateral Trade and Investment Blueprint for Joint Industry Development between Australia and Vietnam. June 2021 – June 2022

This Australian Blue Print project which we led, aimed at enhancing bilateral trade, industry modernization, and investment opportunities. Through extensive stakeholder engagement, market analysis, and policy recommendations, we identified seven key investment areas, including feedlot efficiency, genetic improvement, processing modernization, and sustainability practices. This work supports both Australian and Vietnamese beef industries by fostering collaboration, resilience, and long-term trade growth, reinforcing our expertise in agribusiness strategy, trade facilitation, and industry development.

Evaluating Infrastructure Investments and Supply Chain Improvements Using Transit

FocusGroupGo Asia Pacific played a pivotal role in supporting the TraNSIT (Transport Network Strategic Investment Tool) project, a transformative initiative funded by CSIRO and ACIAR to optimize agricultural supply chains. Through advanced data analysis and logistics mapping, this project identified cost-saving strategies, infrastructure investment opportunities, and efficiency improvements for agricultural transport networks. By enhancing supply chain resilience and reducing logistics costs, our work has contributed to better market access, improved profitability for producers, and strengthened trade connections across key agricultural regions. This project underscores our expertise in agribusiness strategy, market systems, and supply chain optimization to drive sustainable growth.

Provide Consultant Service for Vietnam Food System Transformation in 2022

FocusGroupGo Asia Pacific played an important role in supporting Vietnam’s preparation for the 2021 United Nations Food Systems Summit (UNFSS), in collaboration with Global Affairs Canada (GAC), the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD), and key development partners. As the Food Systems Curator, we provided technical expertise, stakeholder coordination, and facilitation for national and sub-national dialogues, helping shape Vietnam’s National Action Plan for Sustainable Food Systems (2021-2030). Through strategic engagement, research synthesis, and policy advisory, we contributed to strengthening Vietnam’s food security, sustainability, and resilience, reinforcing our expertise in policy development, multi-stakeholder collaboration, and global food systems innovation.

Expert Event Post-Report Writing for DeSIRA Connect Days

FocusGroupGo Asia Pacific successfully provided event post report writing for the DeSIRA CONNECT Days in Hanoi, Vietnam, reinforcing our expertise in knowledge-sharing facilitation, synthesizing and reporting. We worked closely with European Commission’s DeSIRA-LIFT Initiative, ensuring a seamless three-day event that brought together regional policymakers, researchers, and agricultural innovation experts. Our role included logistical support, and post-event reporting, ensuring valuable insights were captured to drive agriculture and climate resilience strategies across the Asia-Pacific region.
